ZRA Workers down tools

Unionized Workers at Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) have down tools demanding for salary increment of 2o percent. A check by Zambian Eye Monday May 13, 2013 found workers sunbathing outside the premises.

Clients were being turned away as operations have come to a standstill at the country’s tax revenue collection.

The negotiation have been going on since November 2012 and management offered 12 percent which the  workers have refused and vowed not to resume operations until their demands are met.

This comes amid high fuel and other commodities prices with by-elections gobbling millions of kwachas where opposition Members of Parliament are alleged being enticed to join the ruling Patriotic Front government.

The Millers have also proposed to increase the country’s stable food -mealie meal by 25 percent.
