Mr Shaibu Adam, the administrator of the Ayawaso East Municipal Education Directorate, Islamic?Education Unit, has called on Zongo youth in politics to show decency in their activities and eschew violence in politics.?Mr Adam said this could build trust, inspire confidence, foster collaboration, and erase the perception that political affiliation or preference was a breeding ground for violence in the country. He made this known during an engagement held by the Ayawaso East National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and said the?youth should be made to understand that violence had no link to politics and that could be championed when those in leadership positions are decent in their activities. He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview 'If you're coming into politics you have to be decent because you know that tomorrow you can become somebody and if you know there's a position you're aiming for, it will inform you that when you misbehave you cannot get to the top'He explained that indecent beha viour indicated?a lack of respect for others and respect for others was an essential element underpinning the laws governing the country and a basic element of democracy stressing that the people's violence must not be encouraged in political discourse at any level. The Administrator of the Islamic Education Unit stressed the need for the Zongo to improve their education, attain higher positions and drive development in the communities saying that the country could?only?create a better society by recognizing and exposing indecent behaviour, particularly in leaders at all levels. He called for more collaboration between political parties in some activities so the citizens know that association with different political parties only reinforces the tenets of democracy and told the youth to desist?from telling falsehoods to achieve or retain personal or political power.Source: Ghana News Agency
