ZAMBIAN REGISTRATION DEPT OFFICES TO REMAIN CLOSED ON ORDERS OF HEALTH MINISTRY

LUSAKA, Zambia’s Minister of Home Affairs (Interior), Steven Kampyongo, says the Passports and National Registration offices here will only re-open with the approval of the Ministry of Health, which has ordered the closure of premises because of the ongoing cholera outbreak in the capital, Lusaka.

At the moment, the Ministry is monitoring how the cholera situation is unfolding in the country, he told a media briefing here Wednesday. He added that the government would ensure that operations return to normal as soon as the situation is conducive.

Kampyongo said the Ministry was equally waiting for guidance from the Ministry of Health to lift the curfew that has been imposed on the Kanyama area of the city and noted security personnel were in that area to implement safety measures.
