ZAMBIAN HEALTH MINISTER ASSURES NO RATIONING OF ARV DRUGS

The Ministry of Health will not ration anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs for HIV positive Zambians because the country has enough stocks, says Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya.

In an interview with the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation here, Dr. Chilufya called on organizations dealing with HIV issues to have an open dialogue with the ministry on their concerns instead of rushing to the media.

He said the Health Ministry had a strict policy of not procuring drugs with a short shelf life and that all drugs being purchased for hospitals have a long shelf life with clearly stated expiry dates.
