Zambia ready to host COSAFA

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has declared its readiness to host the COSAFA senior challenge tournament which kicks off in Zambia this weekend.

FAZ Communications Manager, Erick Mwanza said the official opening of the tournament will kick off in Lusaka at Nkholoma stadium  and will involve a group A game between Namibia and Mauritius.

Mwanza has appealed to the soccer fans to turn out in numbers and support the games which has been perked at K10.00.He said the games will be played across three towns, Lusaka, Kitwe, and Ndola with Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa stadium hosting the final match.

13 teams are participating at this tournament after Equatorial  Guninea withdrew from the tournament. Seven teams namely Seychelles, Mauritius, and Namibia are in group A while Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana,  and Kenya the guest team  completes group B.

South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Malawi and host Zambia will join the tournament in the quarter final
stage. Zimbabwe is the most successive team in this tournament having won it four times and are also the defending champions, while Zambia and Angola has won it three times each
