Zambia: President Lungu Warns Against Post Election Violence

President Edgar Lungu has sent warning signals to his adversaries should they cause confusion in the post election period.

And United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema told Livingstone residents that he is hoping to effect wholsesale changes through parliament once elected in office.

The Head of State who is currently in Muchinga Province on a campaign tour announced that Mpika will be divided into three districts.

President Lungu said that the opposition had shown signs that they may not accept an outcome that may not favour them but warned that the law will deal with any such elements.

He said that he was appealing to the opposition not to cause confusion as the law will be invoked.

President Lungu said Mpika will be divided as it was too bigger presenting administrative challenges.

He also met with six traditional leaders led by chief Luchembe.

And Hichilema who continued with his campaign tour of Southern Province said he needed the electorates to give the UPND enough personnel in parliament to push through his proposed changes.

He promised to increase the salaries of civil servants once elected in office.
