The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that it is now seeking FIFA’s urgent intervention over the release of FC Utrecht striker Jacob Mulenga by his club for the crucial Zambia’s 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Ghana on Friday.

Mulenga who is one of the key strikers for the Chipolopolo team had not been released by Monday causing panic to the Zambia’s technical bench who have to win this game to qualify to the final stage of the 2014 World Cup.

FAZ says FC Utrecht are alleging that the player is injured and will therefore not travel to join the Zambia camp and delegation to Ghana. The Zambian FA says this is disregarding their position and legal right to have the player travel and be assessed by the team’s medical team.
