Workers threaten to protest

Workers at Sino metals in Chambishi have complained about  poor salaries and bad working conditions at a Chinese owned firm.
The workers complained to Zambia Eye that management at the firm has failed to implement the government minimum wage ever since it was announced.
“We wonder why this company has not implemented the minimum wage that government announced almost three years ago, and we do not know why the government is silent about this matter,” complained the workers.
The workers said life was hard adding that they did not see any reason why they should be in employment when they were getting meagre salaries.
The irate workers threatened to stage a sitting protest if management does not increase their salaries by the end of October.
Efforts to get a comment from management officials proved unsuccessful as their phones went unswered.
