Results from the just ended Mansa Central Constituency have cheered the opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) who came second beating the two biggest opposition parties in Zambia.

FDD leader Edith Nawakwi said from Mansa that her party despite going into the by-election as underdogs had proved those who have ruled it out in the Zambian politics.

Ms. Nawakwi said FDD was happy with the results because it showed that the people of Mansa got the message of hope which her party preached during the campaigns. She said the decentralized system of governance which is the anchor message for FDD is the only way to develop Zambia.

She explained that Zambia was not Lusaka and Lusaka was not Zambia adding that there is need to decentralize and take resources to the districts.

The FDD leader said during the campaigns she interacted so well with the people whom she sat and ate with. She said people were able to see the kind of leadership FDD was offering.

Ms. Nawakwi said despite her party which has no single Member of Parliament who make monthly income contributions to the party like MMD and UPND hence little resources, the party performed better.

She said the campaign had shown it is not all about money but message which would give hope to the electorate.

She said after Mansa by-election, the Zambian politics will never be the same. Ms Nawakwi said the FDD was on a national recruitment drive preparing for the 2016 General Election.
