We shall not allow any more manipulation to the Constitution, warns UPND Youths

Any given Republican Constitution is intended to embody themes that not only establish justice as well as secure blessings of liberty to ourselves and to our posterity but to embrace and foster unity among other things.

Therefore, in support of the Technical Committee stance on the refusal to submit the 10 printed constitution to the President as directed by the Minister of Justice Wynter Kabimba: We the youth of United Party for National Development (UPND) and representing the masses of Zambian people of whom this Constitution belongs to, we do not want to see any form of manipulation to the constitution making process which has cost this country valuable time and millions of Kwacha.

We demand that the government should adhere to and respect the terms of reference under which the Constitution is to be distributed. We therefore want to re-echo the Zambian populace’s aspiration of achieving a people driven Constitution which will stand the test of time. In view of this, we want to see the constitution being submitted simultaneously to the public and to the President.

It is within our democratic rights as a people to make this demand; and we are calling upon all stakeholders and patriotic citizens to be vigilant and alert in order that the constitution making process is not hijacked by egocentric and insensitive individuals.

For as much as our forefathers fought for the liberation of this country through bloodshed, we stand ready to defend this process to the last breath. We are resolved to sacrifice our freedom for a Zambian people’s Constitution to be righted in a rather timely and appropriate manner.
