Voting for opposition is rejecting development – President Sata

President Michael Sata has challenged opposition Members of Parliament (MP) in Eastern Province to show what they have done since being elected in 2011.

And PF Chipata Central constituency by-election candidate Lameck Mangani has pledged to work closely with government in addressing problems that the people of Chipata district are facing.

President Sata said it was sad to note that most of the opposition MPs in the province have been confrontational to government instead of lobbying developing for their respective areas.

The President said this when he addressed two mammoth rallies in Chipata Central constituency on Saturday where he drummed up support for PF candidate Lameck Mangani ahead of the July 25 by election.

President Sata noted that voting for  opposition political parties will entail that people in the area have rejected development as it is only the ruling party that has a clear developmental agenda.

Sata implored PF candidate Lameck Mangani to work very hard when elected in order to alleviate poverty in the district.Earlier, PF Chipata Central candidate Lameck Mangani pledged to work closely with government in addressing problems that the people of Chipata district were facing.

Mangani also pledged to represent the electorates effectively and assist government deliver its electoral promises as outlined in the PF party manifesto.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni speaking people, Cabinet Ministers and other senior government officials also attended the rallies.

The Chipata central constituency seat fell vacant following the nullification of the election of MMD Member of Parliament Reuben Mtolo-Phiri by the Supreme court.

MMD is fielding Reuben Mtolo-Phiri to defend the seat, while PF have re-adopted Lameck Mangani, UNIP has Elina Nyirenda and NAREP, Kazembe Daka while Jean Nkunika is standing as an iIndependent candidate. / ZANIS
