VICE-PRESIDENT WINA REPRESENTING ZAMBIAN PRESIDENT AT COMMONWEALTH SUMMIT IN LONDON

LUSAKA– Zambian Vice-President Inonge Wina is in London to represent President Edgar Lungu at the Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) which is being held from Monday to Friday.

This was stated here Sunday by Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji who added that the vice-president is scheduled to arrive in London Monday.

Accompanying the Vice-President to the summit are Justice Minister Given Lubinda and Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Christopher Yaluma as well as other senior government officials.

Malanji saidZambia was ready to participate at the summit and offer progressive ideas aimed at promoting and preserving the interests of Commonwealth member States.

This year’s summit, being held under the theme, Towards a Common Future, will bring together leaders and representatives from the 53 Commonwealth countries.

Zambia last hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 1979 under the leadership of Ffrst Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

The Commonwealth Summit has set out four main pillars — Prosperity, Security, Fairness and Sustainability — focused on building on the strengths of the Commonwealth to ensure the organization is responsive to global needs.
