UPND to expel its MP Siamunene

The opposition United Party for National Development is today expected to pass a verdict on its embattled Sinazongwe Member of Parliament (MP) Richwell Siamunene.

The party ‘s disciplinary committee last week summoned the law marker who is also Commerce Deputy Minister to appear before it  to answer to some charges of violating the party’s constitution.

Siamunene is expected to appear before the committee On Wednesday at 10:00 hours but he has requested the party to furnish him with more information on the charges saying he wants to prepare adequately.

In a letter addressed to the UPND Disciplinary committee Chairperson, Siamunene has also asked the party to postpone the hearing saying he would be attending to other national duties. H also accused the party of  victimising him.

The party had threatened to expel Siamunene if he fails to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.

If expelled, Siamunene would become the second UPND MP serving as Deputy Minister in the Patriotic Front (PF) government to be expelled  after, Greyford Monde.
