UPND MP quits his PF Deputy Ministerial Position

Kalabo Central Constituency United Party for National Development (UPND) Member of Parliament (MP) Chinga Miyutu has resigned as Youth and Sports Deputy Minister. quits

Miyutu who was one of the three opposition MPs from UPBD serving in the current Patriotic Front (PF) rendered in his resignation on Wednesday July 31, 2013.

According to a letter addressed to President Michael Sata and obtained by the Zambian Eye, the Parliamentarian said he wants to focus on his primary role of representing the people well and perform other parliamentary duties.

Miyutu has since thanked President Michael Sata for having appointed him Deputy Minister earlier this year.

He also wished the President well.

Miyutu becomes the second Deputy Minister after Isaac Banda of the MMD to have resigned their position as Deputy Ministers in the PF and revert to just being MPs.

A number of MMD and UPND MPs are currently serving in the PF government although their parties had threatened to expel them.
