UPND informs Police about their rally in Kabwata

UPND letter to PoliceOpposition United Party for National Development – UPND has written to the Police again notifying the plan to hold a public rally this time in Kabwata constituency on 28th January 2013.

Party Deputy Secretary General Kachunga Simusamba has notified the police that the opposition party will hold the rally from 1o hours until 16 hours and that president Hakainde Hichilema will be the main speaker.

Simusamba has also informed the police that his party will provide 100 marshal for crowd control in case the police won’t have enough manpower on the day.

But the ruling Patriotic Front government has banned holding of political meetings and several times efforts by opposition to hold even in-door meetings have been banned by the police citing security concerns.

A by-election is looming in Kabwata following the pending expulsion of Foreign Minister Given Lubinda who is also the area Member of Parliament.
