UPND formally kicks Monde out informs Speaker to declare seat vacant

Greyford Monde, the UPND Member of Parliament who was last week appointed by President Michael Sata as Deputy Minister of Agriculture has formally been expelled from UPND.

Monde who was MP for Itezyi-Tezhi has since been written to by UPND General Secretary informing him that the party’s National Management has resolved to ‘kick him out.’

“I wish to advise you that the National Management Committee at its seating on February 22, 2013 resolved to expel you from the party with immediate effect pursuant to the provision of Article 55 (1) of the UPND constitution,” read Winstone Chibwe’s letter to Monde in parts obtained by Zambian Eye.”You are advised to hand over all party assets you have in your possession.”

Chibwe informed Monde that the party had copied the letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly and Director of Electoral Commission of Zambia to declare Itehzi Tehezi seat vacant.

Other issues Monde is charged is destabilizing the party in his constituency and putting the name of the party in disrepute through issuing unauthorized statements.

After his appointment Monde traveled to his constituency where he is reported to have allegedly influenced the party leaders and members to back his idea of joining the PF government. He also told the media that his royalty was not to the UPND or its president but the people of Zambia.
