UPND congratulates She-polopolo for World Cup qualification

Zambia Women Under 17Opposition UPND has congratulated the victorious Zambia under-17 women’s national team for qualifying to the 2014 World Cup to be held in Costa Rica.

UPND Chairperson for Youth Affairs and Member of Parliament for Senenga Likando Mufalali said the qualification was another milestone in the history of the nation’s sportsmen and women, especially that it is the very first time that women’s national team has qualified to the World Cup finals.

“As UPND, this is indeed a happy moment for the people of Zambia and our girls and in particular as it is sign of better things to come,” Mufalali said. “As we also thank our coaching stuff, we urge government and the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to pull all the needed resources and expertise to adequately prepare our girls for this huge task ahead of them. We challenge them not to plan for an appearance but actually go there and conquer the world.”

He said the UPND’s manifesto recognises and places huge emphasis on investment and growth in various sporting disciplines because that is the sure way of removing youths from crimes and other bad vices yet creating some form of employment through sports and recreation.

“May I also take this opportunity on behalf of our party to join the rest of Zambians in congratulating Nkana Football club, management and supporters for lifting this year’s premier league title for a record 12th time,” Mufalali said. “For the other teams, all we can say is please never give up and keep working hard for the development of sports in this country.”
