UNCTAD post would give Zambia a voice – Mutati

FORMER commerce and trade minister Felix Mutati says scooping the position of secretary general of the UNCTAD would give Zambia a voice and an important role in international trade and development.

Mutati, who has thanked President Michael Sata for his personal endorsement of his candidature and the strong support he is rendering to his endeavour to be considered for the position of secretary general of the United Nations Conference for development and Trade (UNCTAD), said he was humbled.

“I am honoured and humbled by the decision of the Zambian government to support my candidature for the position of secretary general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development,” said Mutati.

Mutati said it was a great honour for him to be made the country’s nomination for what he said was such an important and prominent role in international trade and development agenda setting.
