Uganda Leader Replaces Army Chief in Succession Dispute

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has replaced his army chief amid tensions with the military over an alleged plan to install his son as successor.
 
General Aronda Nyakarima was moved to the civilian post of internal affairs minister, while General Katumba Wamala was named new head of the army.
 
Nyakarima was one of the generals listed in a leaked memo as opposing Museveni’s alleged plan to have his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, succeed him as president.
