Tiz Want 2 Permanent Secretaries Suspended in K3.3 Million CDF Theft

The Drug Enforcement Commission has restricted property belonging to some local government officials following corruption charges involving K3.3 million Constituency Development Fund.

Transparency International Zambia who blew the whistle on the thieving civil servants said some high ranking officials had yet to be acted upon by DEC despite being central to the graft scandal.

TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu said seven junior officers had been suspended with property suspected to be proceeds of crime being restricted while some accounts have been frozen.

Lungu said the investigation officers had shown reluctance to touch some big wigs among them two Permanent Secretaries caught up in the theft web.

He said despite documentation involving the theft being forwarded to DEC, the law enforcement agencies had only shown their muscle on junior officers.
