As you all know, we  almost headed  to the end of the  year,  it’s just about the right time to take you on a journey to get to know our local designers who are working tirelessly in order to put Zambia on the world map of FASHION.

Some of you may have seen their work before,  but let me just introduce you to the masterminds behind the local designer labels .

In this article, I am going to feature several leading designers first I Will start with my own clothing line, then in part II, I will let you in on the other local fabulous designers.

My clothing line is called AfriCouture, Afri  from Africa and couture from haute couture a french term which means high and expensive fashion. AfriCouture, is a Zambian Clothing line with a fusion or Western Designs and Fabric.

African Fabrics and accessories to create something new, contemporary and suitable to wear for work, partying or just on a relax or plain chilling.

Each piece showcases the brands signature style and bears witness to the Zambian lifestyle.

They are clothes for the modern day man and woman who enjoy avant-garde and contemporary pieces that provide directional styling to their wardrobe.

I began my career after matriculating from Munali Girls high school in 2007, after which I went to pursue my craft in fashion design and Tailoring at Lusaka business and Technical college(LBTC).
My passion for fashion is what drives Africouture and has helped me build finalemy business from strength to strength.
I believe I have a contribution to make in our fashion industry by working with creative people who can acquire  knowledge from me, thus building the Zambian fashion industry.
I have showcased my collections at the Zambia fashion week, Miss Teen Zambia, Fashion and style cruise Afrika fashion shows,UNWTO first ladies dinner gala fashion segment etc.
The key highlight for me this year will be my participation at the HeArtistry and AngelAllureSa  fashion show in Johannesburg, South Africa in December,  where I will be showcasing my collection which has the theme,  ”An exploration of the African continent through fashion”.
My vision is to build a textiles company in Zambia so that we can one day stop importing materials. I would also  love  to start making African fabrics using natural fiber,  which will be mixed with plants to provide coloring.
befunky_artwork.leavesSo please,  look forward to the Launch of Africouture in  January, 2014,  at a glamorous fashion show which will be held at the Alliance franchise in Lusaka.
