Suspected PF thugs block, attack HH in Kasama

Zambia’s main opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema and his entourage were on Wednesday morning attacked by armed suspected ruling party thugs a few kilometres from Kasama  town in Northern province on his way to Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people.

The thugs, according UPND Vice president Richard Kapita who is in the entourage attacked them at the Police check point, few kilometres from Kasama town. He said the thugs were  in cars armed with all sorts of weapons and started throwing at the UPND officials as they arrived at the Check Point.

Hichilema popularly known as HH is touring Northern province and was on the way to pay a courtesy call on the newly installed Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

“As we reached the Police Check Point, we saw about fourteen vehicles with cadres armed with sorts of weapons, they started throwing at us,” narrated Kapita.

He said from the look of things the cadres had information on the UPND movements.

Kapita explained that the entourage managed to escape unhurt and went to Kasama Central Police station but the cadres followed them and continued attacking them. He said unfortunate the Police could not take action but kept watching helplessly.

The UPND Vice president has condemned the Police for taking no action and warned them against being used by the PF government. He has asked the Police to learn that political parties come and go saying the PF will not always be in government.

He explained that HH was  in Kasama at the invitation of the Bemba Royal Establishment and he also wanted to utilize the visit to congratulate the newly installed Paramount Chief.
