Zambia’s defender Stoppila Sunzu says his medicals and trials went well at Reading FC in United Kingdom and he has since joined the National Team ahead of 2013 AFCON.

Sunzu was released last Sunday from the camp to go attend the trials and medicals as he prepares to signs with English Side. He is leaving the camp a few days before Zambia launches its campaign to defend the AFCON raised some concerns among Zambian soccer fans.

With barely two days before Zambia’s first game against Ethiopia, Sunzu is back i the team and says his trip was successful. He says he passed the trials and it is now remaining to his former club TP Mazembe of Congo and Reading to finalize before he can sign a contract.

“I am happy because I passed the assessment and it’s now up to TP Mazembe and Reading to finalize the deal,” Sunzu said. “When they do that, I will sign the contract right here during the Africa Cup.”

The deal should be signed by end of January 2013 when the transfer window closes. It now looks certain that the 23 year old defence pillar will be joining Emmanuel Mayuka as the only Zambian players playing in the English Supper league.
