Subsidies cannot continue – Storella

SUBSIDIES can no longer continue and the Zambian government is making very hard decisions, says US Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella.

And the World Bank says the government’s removal of subsidies is an opportunity to realign public resources to meet the country’s development goal of achieving inclusive growth.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Storella on Monday cycled over 20 kilometres from Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport to Livingstone General Hospital and later to Nsongwe village on the outskirts of the Victoria Falls.

In an interview after visiting the Nsongwe Women’s Association demonstration site aimed at improving livelihoods through research and development, Ambassador Storella appealed to farmers to be more ingenious by diversifying from the traditional maize to other crops so as to increase income.
