Stop squabbles, Sata orders PF members

President Michael Sata has ordered for a stop on squabbles that has rocked his party – Patriotic Front (PF) and castigated those creating parallel structures within the party.

The PF has been embodied in wrangles as senior officials position themselves for the top position in the party ahead of the next general elections. Some PF cadres have been calling for the resignation of General Secretary Wynter Kabimba accusing him of dividing the party by creating parallel structures.

Speaking this morning, October 8, 2013, President Sata said the creation of parallel structures set up with malice and dishonesty has sparked strong reactions from other party members who feel such actions have potential to weaken the cohesion of the party. He has warned those engaged in the act  and demanded for loyalty especially from those serving in his government.

President Sata said those serving in his government must show loyalty and concentrate on the development agenda to deliver to the people who shall inturn give them another mandate. He observed that the people of Zambia are becoming increasingly aware and will not be taken for a ride by anyone let alone the opposition parties that only have the agenda of deception and hatred.

On his endorsement campaign, President Sata asked those carrying the campaign to avoid the temptation though it is well intended saying it could detract the attention. He said is not desperate for endorsement as the PF’s sole presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.

President Sata however said that at opportune time he will indicate whether he accepts the nomination or not.

President Sata was speaking at State House when he swore-in Mumbi Phiri and Mirriam Mulenga as High Commissioner and Ambassador for Kenya and Turkey respectively.
