Zambia’s Information Minister Kennedy Sakeni has asked Zambians to stop insulting President Michael Sata on the internet saying the facility aught to be used constructively.

Sakeni who is the Chief Government Spokesperson told ZANIS that Zambians must avoid abusing the online facilities.

The Patriotic Front government since coming into power has been so critical to Online media that they are working on a mechanism to control bloggers and internet users.

“Insulting the Head of State everyday is wrong even if you didn’t vote for him because majority Zambians voted for him,” Sakeni said and asked. “Who would like his father every day insulted online?”

Sakeni explained that much as he would like to encourage internet freedom, that freedom should not be abused to insult others.

“Let’s have constructive online interactions and not insults, give your point of view and not insults, ” said Sakeni.

He observed that mostly it was the young people aged between 25 and 45 in the habit of insulting others and also daring his Government.

Online and Social Media is growing in Zambia with the majority of people now accessing internet facilities via the mobile phone devices.
