Somali-American Makes History as Lawmaker

A newly elected councilman in the northern U.S. city of Minneapolis is poised to become one of the highest elected persons of Somali descent in the United States.
Abdi Warsame won the race for city councilman in a landslide victory on Tuesday against incumbent candidate Robert Lilligren.
In an interview with VOA, Warsame said he has a feeling of “quiet satisfaction” about his victory.
