Solwezi Police arrest Mobilephone counterfeit traders

Police in Solwezi have arrested three people in for selling counterfeit Mobile phones.

North Western Province Commissioner of Police Eugene Sibote Confirmed the development adding that the three have been arrested for trading products bearing wrong trade marks.

Mr Sibote identified the three as Patrick Bwalya of Kitwe, Erickson Mwewa and Maybin Mwenya of Solwezi.

The provincial Police Chief said the Police confiscated 99 mobile phones worthy 24,975 from the three who will appear in court soon.

“We have confiscated 99 phones worthy 24,975, the mobile phones are bearing false names as you may be aware, we received a letter from Samsung that our markets are flooded with counterfeit phones,” Mr Sibote said.

Mr sibote added that the trio has been arrested for trading in counterfeit products contrary to 337 sub section 1 D of the penal code 287 of the laws of Zambia.
