Sogecoa confirms donating 9 vehicles to State House under Rupiah

A Chinese company has confirmed having donated nine vehicles to State House under former president Rupiah Banda.

Banda was arrested on Monday and charged with concealment of gratification involving nine light trucks valued at K471 million.

Sogecoa Zambia Limited, a Chinese company, disclosed yesterday that State House asked to be given nine second-hand light trucks in 2011.

Sogecoa director Li Ren Fu who spoke through an interpreter was reacting to allegations by the Government Joint Investigative Team that Banda received nine light trucks from their company as a personal gratification and later concealed the receipts.

He said as far as the donation of the said trucks was concerned, it was an expression of goodwill and that all its deeds in Zambia could withstand juristic investigations if required.

“Yes, it is true that Segecoa donated 9 (nine) light trucks to the Zambian government in 2011.
