Soccer fans welcome stadia name change

Soccer fans have commended government for reversing its decision to rename the new stadium under construction in Lusaka from Gabon Disaster Heroes National Stadium to Heroes National Stadium.
The Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) patron Peter Makembo said President Sata had united the country by intervening in the cries of the people.
Makembo said the gesture was an affirmation of how passionate President Sata was for the game of football in the country.
“We congratulate President Sata for listening to our cries, it shows that our President is a listening and as an association we are happy that the name change has been made without wasting much time,” he said.
Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili announced on Friday that the name change followed consultations with Republican President Michael Sata in relations to the concerns raised by Zambians on the earlier name.
