Secretaries seek statutory recognition

THE Professional Secretaries Association of Zambia has asked the government to consider redesigning the association’s legal framework for it to be recognised by an Act of Parliament.

Speaking on Saturday during the commemoration of the World Secretaries Day in Choma themed ‘Be the best you can’, Professional Secretaries Association (PSAZ) national secretary Druscilla Bwalya said secretaries can only be the best they can once their cries of being recognised by an Act of Parliament are met.

“Although we are celebrating this day, we are doing so with hearts full of anxiety in the sense that our cries of being recognised by an Act of Parliament have been dragging for years,” she said.

Bwalya said a mammoth task has been undertaken in an effort to ensure that the Association starts issuing practicing certificates to qualified secretaries.

“The Association is aware of persons that are called secretaries who have not taken proper training but are called secretaries.
