Scrap metal dealer pleads not guilty to copper possession

A 45-YEAR-OLD woman of Livings-tone’s Dambwa Site and Service has pleaded not guilty to being in possession of copper material, property believed to be proceeds of crime.

Appearing before magistrate Andrew Kasongo was Gloria Siakakaye, a scrap metal dealer who stood charged with the offence of failing to account for possession of property reasonably suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that on February 19, 2013, Siakakaye, failed to account for 92 bags of copper material and 19 pieces of copper cathodes believed to be proceeds of crime.

Siakakaye, who was arrested on April 17, 2013 had been in hiding since February 19 and was only arrested after a tip off from the public when they spotted her on Lusaka Road in Livingstone.
