Sata’s appointments of relatives at Finance makes usage of funds difficult – UPND

United Party For National Development (UPND) Deputy Spokesperson,Cornelius Mweetwa has charged that President  Michael Sata’s  appointment of his relatives in the Ministry Of Finance has made difficulty to control the utilization of funds.

Mweetwa said the President has appointed his Uncle, Alexander Chikwanda as Finance Minister and Secretary to the Treasurer, Fredson Yamba who is his in-law means no proper control of abuse of fund from the President or government.

He has alleged that the moving of the Road Development Agency-RDA- to State House has also encouraged corruption as there is no one to provide checks to that office.

“State House should have been the final arbitrator where everyone who is aggrieved appeal but in the case where a problem is found where is that person expected to appeal,” wondered Mweetwa.

Mweetwa who is also Chairperson of the African Parliamentarian against Corruption –APAC- said the Patriotic Front-PF-has terribly failed to fight corruption.

He said unlike the Late Former President, Levy Mwanawasa who declared a zero tolerance against corruption and it worked, the allergic to corruption theme President Sata has taken is not working out.

The UPND official cited the interference in the Anti Corruption Commission investigation when it was investigating two senior officials among other reasons as failure to fight the vice.

Mweetwa was speaking in Lusaka on Tuesday May 21, 2013 when he featured on UNZA radio programme.
