President Michael Sata has again threatened to dissolve Parliament to go for fresh elections accusing his Ministers of failing to defend his government from attacks by the opposition UPND.

Speaking when he addressed a combined meeting of members of his PF Central Committee and Cabinet Ministers at State House Monday, September 16, 2013, President Sata why there was no response to attacks by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

“Why are you not talking?” President asked. ”Why are you so quiet?”

“We are pounded left, right and centre. Hichilema today is saying that this cabinet is bloated, the other day he said this cabinet is tribal and you people are not replying.”

“Who do you think is going to answer for you?” asked Sata.

President Sata challenged his Ministers to inform him if they are not capable so he could dissolve Parliament and calls for fresh elections.

“If you are not fit to be what you are let me know so that I can dissolve parliament and we go for a general election,” threatened Sata whose government marks two years in office in September 23.

This is the second time President Sata is threatening to dissolve Parliament, the first was when opposition Members of Parliament refused to pass a government bill a few months after his party won elections.

The Sata’s administration has come under fire from the opposition accusing it of being too big and comprising of his tribes mate. The government is also being accused of failing to live upto its promise of delivering even a few of the many campaign promises made in the run-upto 2011 elections.

The PF had promised to create more jobs, lower taxes and put more money in the pockets of the over 70 percent hungry Zambians living on less than a dollar. Sata’s campaign message wooed many youths to voting for him as he promised to make many changes including giving citizens a new constitution in 90 days which the previous regimes have failed to deliver in twenty years.

The opposition says this was all deceit and have accused Sata’s government of being incompetent and taking the country back to dictatorship by arresting opponents.
