Sata says lucky to have attended Boao Forum

PRESIDENT Michael Sata says there is nothing special about Zambia that could have earned it an invitation to this year’s Boao Forum for Asia.

The head of state, who was the only African leader present at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) – a high-level meeting that brings together political, business and economic leaders to discuss Asia’s development process – attracted the attention of many foreign journalists.

“I was just another lucky one to come and attend this forum,” he said when asked to give his views about the Boao Forum after he had delivered a keynote speech to a sub-forum on the sidelines of the main event themed ‘Africa: the rise of an ancient continent’.

Few countries today enjoy close links with China as much as Zambia does owing to the massive Chinese investments so far seen in the country’s mining sector, which are in excess of US$2 billion.
