Rupiah asks court to jail Kapeya, Kampyongo

RUPIAH Banda has asked the court to jail Mwansa Kapeya and Steven Kampyongo for allegedly disregarding an order that authorised him to travel out of Zambia.

Banda has applied for an order in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court to commit to prison Kapeya who is information deputy minister, and his home affairs counterpart Kampyongo, chief immigration officer Malumo Milimo and an immigration officer for contempt, alleging that they deliberately disregarded an order that released his passport and authorised him to travel outside the country.

But Banda’s lawyers Sakwiba Sikota and Prof Patrick Mvunga yesterday told Lusaka chief resident magistrate Joshua Banda that they only managed to serve summons on Kapeya and Kampyongo.
