Roadworks to create more jobs, says Sata

PRESIDENT Sata says the countrywide road construction currently being undertaken by his government will absorb the unemployed and that Government has already created 1,900 jobs.

President Sata says Government has put in place measures that will create more employment opportunities for citizens and improve the country’s economy.

“We are also working on roads and once we implement these projects, people, who will be given contracts for the projects, will create employment for our people,” Mr Sata said.

He said the Patriotic Front government has so far created over 1,900 jobs for the local people and is keen to create more employment for Zambians.

He was speaking during commemoration of this year’s Labour Day at the Freedom Statue in Lusaka yesterday.

He said Government is working on modalities of improving living conditions for people in rural areas by ensuring the rural electrification and water projects are implemented.
