Former Deputy Minister of Finance under Second President Frederick Chiluba, Rev Dan Pule has registered a political party called Christian Democratic Party (CDP).

This is after his attempt to registered his party as Jubilee was rejected by even by Minister of Home Affairs saying it coincides with the country’s programme next year – Zambia’s Jubilee Independence celebrations. He was advised to change the name.

Pule who also served as Memeber of Parliament in Luapula province under MMD was one of Chiluba’s confidants. He is one of the former MMD members the late president used to form a party called PUDD after he fell out with his successor Levy Mwanawasa.

In the last election he attempted to contest a parliamentary seat under Patriotic Front (PF) but was not picked. He is one of those who supported PF and Michael Sata in 2011 who have decided to form their own parties.
