Rejected Taima now claims he never applied

After being rejected to stand on the Patriotic Front ticket, former Solwezi East Member of Parliament Richard Taima now claims that he never applied to contest the seat.

Taima said in a statement obtained by the Zambian Eye on Tuesday, July 3, 2013 that he was not rejected but only opted out of the race after he was advised that he was not eligible to contest the seat.

This is contrary to information even from the PF itself who said he was not the preferred candidate despite him wanting to re contest the seat after he had defected from the  MMD. He has pledged to be royal to the PF and President Michael Sata.

Taima said he would also remain committed in seeing the growth of the party and bring unity in the membership in Solwezi.

The former Deputy Minister who is not campaigning for the PF adopted candidates claims he is waiting for instructions from the party to enable him beef up the campaign team.

Taima who caused the Solwezi East By-election after he resigned from the MMD to join the PF was however not picked by the ruling party who opted to field in their member Peter Ilunga for the polls.

The Solwezi East seat is also being contested by the Villie Lombanya of UPND, and Clephus Luwaile of UNIP.

The polls in Solwezi East will be held on July 25, 2013 together with Kafulafuta, Mkushi North and Chipata Central constituencies.
