Information and Broadcasting Minister, Kennedy Sakeni, says there is nothing wrong for former President Rupiah Banda being summoned by the investigative wings of government because he is not immune to investigations but prosecution.
Sakeni who is also Chief Government Spokesperson says it is also evident that the MMD under President Rupiah Banda was highly corrupt in the history of Zambia.

The information Minister said in a statement in Lusaka the Zambian capital January 7, 2013 that Banda is not being prosecuted because investigation does not amount to prosecution. He said it was imperative for the former Head of state to present himself to the investigative wings so that he can help them with necessary information on national matters.

“Does it mean that those investigating certain issues in the country cannot call upon the former Head of State to help with certain information that has been linked to him? He still enjoys immunity as a former President and no one has removed it from him.

Sakeni says it was common knowledge to all that the former MMD regime run a highly corrupt government. He said And if anybody was summoned by the ACC, they are not saying his guilty, they just want to verify a few facts.
