The statement by Malawian President Joyce Banda who is attending the 68th Session of United Nations General Assembly in New York.

My dear friends,
I am pleased to inform you that prior to taking part in the United Nations General Assembly, I met  with development partners on Monday  and this meeting resulted into a series of commitments by partners to support our Government of Malawi to strengthen the education sector to ensure our people have improved access to education.
During this meeting which was  organised by United… Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, Mr. Gordon Brown, Malawi made a presentation that highlighted the progress and challenges in the education sector.
Our presentation on the educational sector made the UN Special Envoy for Global Education Mr  Gordon Brown.  to urge our partners to continue working with our government to ensure that our people have substantial and unhindered access to education.
As a result of our presentation on educational sector, the United Nations Children Fund had stated  that it will help to train more teachers in the country, the World Bank, which currently supports the Social Cash Transfer Program, committed its efforts to continue supporting the program and confirmed that it will continue working with Institutions of Higher learning to provide better and quality education.
Thank you all  for your support and prayers.
May God bless you!
Dr. Joyce Banda
President  Republic of Malawi
