Poor sanitation in nightclubs, bars worries Mansa council

THE local authority in Mansa has expressed disappointment over reports of poor sanitation in bars and nightclubs operating in the business district.

Mansa Municipal Council spokesperson Evans Lumande said his office had commenced inspections to establish how bars and nightclubs were compiling with liquor licence regulations.

“Of late we have been receiving reports of poor sanitation among some bars and nightclubs in the area, so what we did as council was to call owners of those places where poor sanitation were recorded and cautioned them to be fully compiling with the set regulations. We told them that when they are conducting business they are dealing with human beings and therefore it is their duty to respect and protect the health of their customers,” said Lumande.

Lumande said those dealing in liquor businesses that were going to be found operating with poor water and sanitation were going to risk having their trading licences revoked.
