Phiri warns Catholics in govt against exploitatio

CHIPATA Diocese Auxiliary Bishop Benjamin Phiri says he will suspend any Catholic civil servant who does not offer services to the people as expected from taking church sacraments.

Delivering his sermon during Holy Thursday Mass at St Anne’s Cathedral, Bishop Phiri said it was exploitation and criminal for public officers not to offer the services that they are employed for. From front page

He said some civil servants who were also Christians do not do what was expected of them.

He said if he found any Catholic civil servant who does not offer services to the people as expected, he would not hesitate to suspend such a person from taking sacraments.

“Some people have died without their benefits not because the money is not there, but because there are some people who are exploiting them. Whichever ministry, you name it, if you want things to move, you have to pay someone.
