PF will not be allowed to extend their tenure to 2019 – Mulongoti

People’s Party leader Mike Mulongoti has said there is a strong information going round that the ruling Patriotic Front – PF would like to extend the tenure of holding polls from five to eight years.

Speaking on Burning Issue programme hosted by 5FM Radio on Thursday morning, May 16, 2013, Mulongoti who is also a former Minister warned that the PF will have it rough.

“They will have it rough, their mandate ends in 2016,” warned Mulongoti.

The People’s Party leader said the PF was inciting opposition Members of Parliament causing by-elections so they can meet 106 members required to pass laws in Parliament. He said such maneuvers will not work as the current government was given a five year mandate which ends in 2016.

Mulongoti said such decision can only be made by the people of Zambia adding that what the PF needs to do is to work hard so that they can win another mandate in 2016.

By press time Mulongoti was still on 5FM.
