PF thank voters in Mkushi North

The Patriotic Front (PF) has thanked Mkushi residents for supporting the party in the just ended Mkushi north parliamentary by-election.

Copperbelt Minister, Mwenya Musenge who was PF campaign Manager in the Mkushi North by-elections has expressed gratitude to Mkushi residents for voting in favour of the PF candidate Ingrid Mpande.

Mwenya thanked Mkushi people on behalf of President Michael Sata saying his party is happy to capture the seat adding that the onus now lies in the party to fulfil its campaign promises in honour of the support it received.

The Copperbelt Minister said this after the PF candidate Ingrid Mpande was declared winner.

He said in order to reciprocate the gesture, the new member of parliament will be helped to under take as a matter of urgency, developmental projects as promised during the campaigns in collaboration with government.

Mwenya cited the Masansa road as one of the projects to be undertaken as part of the link Zambia 8000 Road project.

He also said that schools, township roads and erratic power supply are among the issues that will be addressed to lessen the suffering that Mkushi people have been facing.

Mpande scooped the Mkushi North parliamentary seat with 3,838 votes while her closest rival Jonathan Kapungwe of MMD got 1,366 votes.

In the same race, Winter Libbohole of UPND was the third with 899 votes followed by UNIP’s Bernard Nshimbi who polled 83 votes.

Others were Felix Chisanga an independent who got 66 votes and Albert Kawaya of NAREP who only managed to get 39 votes..
