PF set to rig Lukulu poll, replaces Presiding officers with cadres, reveals UPND

Opposition UPND has disclosed that there is an attempt by the ruling party to rig next week’s Lukulu West constituency by-elections.

According to Party’s Spokesperson Charles Kakoma, the PF just like they did in Livingstone have since replaced all the Presiding Officers and Poling Assistants training by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

“In a desperate attempt to steal votes from the popular UPND candidate Misheck Mutelo in the Lukulu West constituency parliamentary bye-election, the PF has decided to replace all the presiding officers and Polling Assistants trained and recruited by the ECZ with PF cadres to rig the election,” disclosed Kakoma on Friday, April 19, 2013.

Kakoma who is also the UPND Zambezi East Member of Parliament explains that some of these cadres from PF are known party officials operating from Lukulu Market. He says others are known partisan civil servants who are currently hosting PF meetings at their homes and distributing PF chitenge materials.

“It has also been discovered that some voters on the original ECZ list have been removed.” revealed Kakoma.

There are serious allegations by leaders of the opposition that PF has employed a tactic rigging system to enable the party win all elections. Opposition MMD has since boycotted future elections until the ECZ is transformed.
