PF retains it’s Mansa seat

The ruling party, Patriotic Front (PF) has retained it’s Mansa Central parliamentary seat with a landslide in a by-election held November 22, 2013.

It’s candidate Chitalu Chilufya polled 9, 671 votes followed by the opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) candidate Albert Mwape who got 1, 279 votes.

The MMD’s Malama Kapolyo polled 1, 103 votes, followed by UPND’s Rosemary Mwiche with 338 votes and UNIP’s Chaires Mwelwa managed 152 votes.

Mansa Central Constituency Returning officer Robert Zimba declared Dr. Chilufya the dully elected Member of Parliament ealy hours of Saturday, November 23, 2013 around 2am.

The Mansa seat became vacant after the death of Kennedy Sakeni who was also Information and Broadcasting Minister.

The PF has also scooped a Local Government by-election in Malambo, Eastern province.

The PF got 451 votes closely followed by UPND with 354 and third MMD with 150 votes
