PF cadres protest at State House demanding Kabimba’s resignation

Scores of ruling Patriotic Front cadres on Monday morning staged a protest at State House to continue pressing for the resignation of their General Secretary Wynter Kabimba.

The cadres from some constituencies in Lusaka matched from the Central district to State House via Independence Avenue bringing traffic to a halt while singing and chanting anti-Kabimba slogans.

A check by Zambian Eye found dozens of cadres blocked by riot Police at the junction of Independence Avenue and President lane. State House security personal were found and Permanent Secretary Kazier Zulu negotiated with the cadres not to proceed saying their message would be delivered to President Michael Sata.

Leader of the Group who is also Lusaka district Acting Chairman Chikwelete explained that the cadres feel their message demanding Kabimba’s resignation was not reaching the President. He said from the time the cadres presented the petition nothing had been done hence the protested.

The cadres denounced Kabimba saying he was arrogant. The cadres said they feel belittled and insulted by Kabimba’s remarks that only President Sata can  make him steep down. They vowed not to leave until Kabimba steeps down.

During the protest a prominent PF cadre Charity Banda was roughed-up  by cadres who accused her of belonging to Kabimba’s group. The cadres demanded that she leaves the place. As she tried to hastate the cadres pushed her into the crowd and started beating her. She was only rescued by some of the cadres who managed to whisky her.

The cadres later left after they were told that Central Committee was seating and looking at the matter.
