Petauke man, 42 gets 30 years for defilement

A 42-YEAR-OLD man of Petauke yesterday wept uncontrollably and fell down within the dock after Chipata High Court Judge Eddie Sikazwe sentenced him to 30 years imprisonment with hard labour for defilement.

This is a matter where Boscar Mwale was committed to the Chipata High Court for sentencing by the Petauke Magistrates’ Court.

After Judge Sikazwe pronounced the sentence, Mwale who was seemingly strong broke down and had to be lifted out of the dock by some prison warders who were in court.

“Yehovah! Yehovah!” exclaimed Mwale after the judge pronounced the sentence.

Mwale, who is HIV positive and had another sexually transmitted infection, defiled a 12-year-old and infected her.

When asked by Judge Sikazwe to address the court, Mwale said although he was going to be sentenced, he was still innocent.
