People will decide, We have done our best in Katuba with limited funds – Fr. Bwalya

Alliance for Better Zambia president Frank Bwalya says the choice is being made by the people of Katuba constituency in today’s tightly contested by-election.

Fr. Bwalya says his his party has done its best under the circumstance but the final decision will have to be made by the people who started voting at 6am to 6pm on Tuesday.

“We have done our part, we have done our best in Katuba within our limited funds and facilities such as vehicles etc,” Fr. Bwalya said. “Now we leave everything in the hands of the people to decide.”

He said the people have to do their part saying that is what democracy entails.

“PF as usual moved graders and other types of machinery to work on roads, they moved in to replace roofs on schools that have had no roofs for a long time,” he said. “This is wrong when done in the middle of an election.”

He said the the people should however be happy because maybe govt would not have done the work if it had not been for the by-election.

Counting of results will begun after closing of polling. The final results are expected early Wednesday.

Seven candidates are eying the seat that fell vacant following the death of Dr. Patrick Chikusu of MMD who was serving as Deputy Minister in Michael Sata’s government.
